This article: http://www.salem-news.com/articles/november102009/aspergers_kf.php
is interesting, as in spot-on. This pretty much nails the dynamics in my marriage. I'm just shaking my head over how close it is. "The non-Asperger partner then unwittingly fills the role of personal assistant." Too true.

I was just reading over the seemingly depressing post regarding my year so far. Had to have my eye lasered again but things are better. Daughter just moved back in, we'll see how it goes. The other secretary went out for a few weeks on stress leave. She is back now but medicated. Mom is doing reasonably well. All systems go.

I found out recently that Sutter Health has a new adult aspergers program so I changed his coverage to get him in. Now he has an official-official diagnosis. They also did a EEG and MRI. I'm waiting for the results from those. His Zoloft was increased and seems to be easing his obsessions, and there's the problem.

His obsession is an anime card game, which has a big following. During the summer all the big tournaments are held, of which he and his team win. He was upset that he doesn't seem to be caring about it enough when preparing for the tournaments (where he has won expensive electronics). So he is remaining at a low dose until after the national tournament next month, then back up to the higher dose. Hopefully he will be able to concentrate better at school next semester and do the work.

I am proud of him for being the best of what he does. He may not be winning a scholarship, but I'll take it.

So You Want To Be A Tolkien Geek?

I am kind of ashamed of my score. I never was good at geography. 100 questions! - it was a lot of fun to take.

So here is a quick update.

I've been stuck rereading Legolas stories for the last three months. There are actually some very good ones out there. I just never thought I would go for Legolas stories. I need more people to write Glorfindel stories. I'm still hanging on to the hobbits though.

Daughter punched out dad a few months ago (2 days after getting grandma home from the hospital). Had to move her in with friends. Can't believe how calm it is around here without her stirring things up - I want her back.

Finally decided son is too aspie and obsessive and applied for SSI for him. There is a new adult aspergers program I am seeing if I can get him into.

I had a retinal tear and had to have it lasered closed. Not a too bad of an experience and I did survive.

Manic secretary sitting beside me at work is finally settling down and is out of her 'I hate everyone' mode. I'm not sure if I survived with my dignity as I haven't heard all her complaints.

Last year I lost 35 lbs and have put a little more than half of it back on this year.

Reading this over and everything sounds bad but it's not. Love my kids and appreciate them. I Like my job. Husband has been doing good and I appreciate every day I have my mother, even if I do get tired of hearing about sales and coupons.

This is a bit funny. My sister and I were talking the other day and she confessed to me she keeps rereading the Twilight series. She was embarrassed because she says she discovered she is considered a 'fangirl.' I welcomed her to the club. She knows I'm obsessed with LOTR so I told her about fan fiction. She got excited and said she would look for some. Now I am worrying that probably was not the best thing to do because she also has OCD and I would feel guilty if she became like me. After all these years I still read LOTR fan fiction at least a few hours EVERY DAY. Since I don't always have access to a computer, I have been printing out stories to read and reread since 2002. I have seven copy paper boxes stuffed with fan fiction stacked in my bedroom (and yes, Grey Wonderer, I do have all your stories spread throughout these boxes). She suggested I read Twilight and I said no way, I do not need another obsession.

Since February 1st, I have lost 31 lbs. It hasn't been easy, since my back won't let me exercise. A bunch of women at work organized a weekly weight-watchers meeting. It appears I'm the second highest (and second most motivated) loser in the bunch. Ha. Of course I broke my diet tonight. The kids and I (actually one was my kid) stopped for dinner and I wound up having a 8 oz. steak and french fries. Tomorrow back to the grind, I promise.

My brother's job is moving him to Texas, so we took one of his cats today. We already have one of his dogs - so the count is now two dogs, three cats.

I dreamed about cats again last night; I took in around 45 stray kittens (of course my house was in SF). In one litter the kittens looked like zebras and giraffes. The zebra kittens were very cute.

It turns out I have sleep apnea. I would fall asleep at work, driving, in the dr's office, etc. I spent the night at a sleep clinic and they say I stop breathing 16 times per hour and wake-up 29 times per hour. So now I have to wear a mask attached to a CPAP machine which blows air up my nose to keep my flabby throat from closing. It's true that when you get old EVERYTHING sags. I've had the machine for a few months and still hate it. But I don't fall asleep at the wheel anymore. The interesting thing is my dreams. For the past couple of years I have had lots of very vivid dreams, which I am not having so much now. When I do have a vivid dream I wake-up and find I've taken the head gear off in my sleep. I guess I remember my dreams because I wake-up so frequently. So I guess it is goodbye to all my LOTR dreams, my cat dreams, and San Francisco dreams (actually all my dreams take place in San Francisco). On the other hand, I won't have the searching for a bathroom dream anymore either (I need a public bathroom fast but they are always either too filthy, too public or too dangerous.) Or the old I'm the only one naked in the room, should I keep acting like nothing is wrong dream. That is a funny dream - society is clothing optional, but people more often wear them. Every time I decide to go naked I am the only one who shows up that way.

I saw a little sun today, which is encouraging. The last six days have been so hazy with smoke; it really has been awful. There are a lot of Northern California fires, but none too near us. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the smoke is just sitting on the Sacramento Valley. No delta breezes. We've had to keep the air conditioning on, even though it is not too hot, because the smoke bothers my mother, who has lung disease. The sun has been blood red, which of course means blood has been spilled on this day.

What type of person do you attract?
Your Result: You attract geeks!

Your stunning intellect and love of sci-fi and video games allures the geeks like nothing else. Maybe it is the sparkle in your eye that makes them want to text you, who knows. Geeks make good partners, but tend to be arguementative. If you are a TRUE geek magnet, you will know if that was spelled correctly, and actually care. If it is a bad-boy/bad-girl you are seeking, you are barking up the wrong tree, unless they are just 'bad' behind a PS2 console.

You attract Yuppies!
You attract artsy people!
You attract models!
You attract rednecks!
You attract unstable people!
What type of person do you attract?
Quizzes for MySpace

This cracks me up - I attract geeks and my friend attracts unstable people! This is a very accurate test.
